Shorinji Kempo is an effective method of self-defence.It is designed
to allow the kenshi (Shorinji Kempo practitioner) to defend themselves,
or others, against one or more armed or unarmed assailants.
Shorinji Kempo was founded in Japan in 1947.
In this time, over 1,500,000 people have joined. The number of branches
within Japan is about 2,950, and it has also spread to 32 countries
overseas.
In short Shorinji Kempo is a Martial Art developed in conjunction
with Zen meditation and the study of philosophy to cultivate the mind
and body together.
There are 4 branches in New Zealand, which are:
*Auckland Central Branch
*East Auckland Branch
*North Shore Branch
*New Plymouth Branch
